Growing up we’ve all had labels put on us at some point. Labels like short, smart, funny, pretty, ugly, fat, skinny, stupid, shy the list could go on. You can be labeled based on all sorts of things, things that really shouldn’t matter & sometimes we’ve allowed these labels to become part of who we are. I remember a season where I was constantly being called stupid & over time I started thinking I was stupid & it affected the way I approached my school work, my plans for the future, literally everything. It wasn’t until I realized that I was believing a lie & replaced it with a truth found in the Bible that it began to change. So what I want to ask is who are you really? Not who are you based on what other people say about you, or what people have labeled you, but who God says you are? We are all made in the image of God, we are His children, & He loves us. What’s important is who God says I am, not what anyone else says about me. Sometimes we’re the ones who think negatively about ourselves, we feel we don’t measure up to every other person we see online, or we set unrealistic expectations for ourselves. We need to remind ourselves who we are & dwell on what God says about us. We’re not perfect & we’re all different & that’s what makes us beautiful. When we try to be something we’re not, or we look down on ourselves we’re saying to God that He made a mistake when He made us. That we should be someone else, or that we aren’t good enough. Those are lies from the enemy & when those lies come we need to remind not only ourselves but him who God has made us to be. We are all special, made in His image & made with a purpose to fulfill. Don’t waste your time trying to be like her because she can’t bring what you can bring to the table. No one else can do things quite like you can. So ask yourself this question who are you according to God?
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10
For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.
Deuteronomy 7:6
For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.
Colossians 2:9-10

This is good. Thank you for sharing. Growing up I dealt with the identity that was put on me as a Pastor Kid.

I also know what this felt like. My parents were pastors when I was growing up. It’s definitely interesting navigating that.
