Happy Wednesday friends! I hope your week is going well so far. Today I want to talk about taking steps when it’s scary and you might be unsure. Over the past little bit, there have been a lot of steps taken in my life. Some of them scary and some of them not so scary. Almost a year ago now my family made a decision to leave the church I had pretty much grown up in. This wasn’t an easy decision and it wasn’t because something bad happened, we just felt like with some changes that had taken place we wanted to protect family relationships. That was a HUGE step, it was exciting, but also really scary. Leaving a place you’ve known for as long as you can remember can be very intimidating, but in the last year, a lot of amazing things have happened. I recently took a step away from a really, terrible job, into a new one. A step I almost didn’t take due to fear and stress, yet, it was a step I’m very happy I took. Just last week I was able to take steps into two different ministries at my church, these ministries were not really something I was even considering, but the opportunity came and I decided to take them. Now, taking steps as I said isn’t easy, sometimes it’s downright scary, but I think what we need to remember that if it’s a step that takes you closer to what God has for you, there’s no need to be afraid. After agreeing to one of the ministries teams this past week, I said to my Mom it’s scary to step into new things and to be outside of my comfort zone. I had come to a place of comfort and complacency and now all at once, it seems as if God is asking me to step out of it. There’s a quote that talks about how life takes place outside your comfort zone, so if God’s asking you to take steps, or maybe you just realize you need to take steps, don’t be afraid, steps in the right direction only take you closer to your dreams/goals. Let’s make sure that we’re not allowing ourselves to be comfortable in our walk with the Lord, let’s be bold and take those steps of faith even when they’re scary.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
