Today I want to talk about how to gain more confidence. In this day an age it’s very easy to not feel confident. I know how I felt growing up & I can’t imagine what it’s like for young girls to grow up today with all the pressure that social media can bring. I thought I’d share some tips that I’ve found have helped me feel more confident & comfortable with who I am.
The first thing I want to say is to stop comparing yourself. Don’t do it, it’s a trap. As soon as you look at someone else & wish you had what they did, you’re putting yourself down & you will instantly feel bad. If you need to set boundaries when it comes to social media do it. You never end up feeling confident when you start to compare. God has made you uniquely & given you special giftings that are done in a way no one else can do. You are needed & no one else can do you the way you do you.
The second thing is to find things that you’re good at & spend time working on them. When I was in high school I was always trying to do things that my friends were good at & I always felt disappointed because I ended up comparing myself, but also because they were things that I simply wasn’t good at. Once I found things I could excel in & do well my confidence boosted. I felt amazing when I focused on these things & I felt better about myself overall. I also found that when I was busy working away on these projects I didn’t have the time to spend on social media getting caught up in the comparison trap on there.
The last tip I want to share with you is to stand on the Word of God & to listen to what God says & thinks about you. The enemy loves to come & plant lies in our thoughts, or maybe people have said things about you & those things come back to haunt you. When we spend time with God He speaks life over us. He loves us & the more we listen to what He has to say about us the easier it will be to recognize the lies that pop up from time to time. You are God’s handiwork, created in His image & you are more precious than rubies. He loves you & sees you as perfect, you are His daughter & Father’s always find their daughters beautiful. Don’t forget that you are more than enough & that He loves you dearly. Our confidence should be found in Him first & formerly & everything else will flow from that.
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
1 Peter 3:3-4
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27
You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.
Songs of Songs 4:7
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Proverbs 31:30
I love these tips! I really have felt God asking me to be more confident lately…more bold! I love your first tip!
