I talked a little bit about having an A-Type personality over on my instagram earlier this week & how I’ve had a difficult time trusting God with things along my journey because of this. I love planning & having everything organized, but God doesn’t always lay everything out for you all at once. Wouldn’t it be nice if He did? Which leads me to part of the reason why I thought I’d share this post. Our lives are super busy & sometimes they can become overwhelming & we allow it to consume us. We allow things that don’t really matter to consume us, for example things like instagram (more on this next week) & how we get so consumed with what’s happening there that we get depressed because our lives don’t look like their perfectly staged photo, or maybe there’s drama with a friend, maybe there are issues at work. Life is FULL of all sorts of things & at times we end up carrying all this junk around with us & we let it steal our joy & our peace. A very wise friend of mine told me recently to just let go of all the stuff that was bothering me, stressing me out, etc. She told me to give it to God & to not let it get to me. She encouraged me to pray & if I felt like I prayed about it to the point where it felt done to just REST. This really impacted me, I mean we’re always told to take time for ourselves & relax but do we actually do it? Do we actually hand over the things that aren’t in our control to God & just rest in knowing that He’s going to handle it? We usually don’t we get caught up in the things we can’t change & we let it steal our joy. We stop doing the things we love, we get agitated, or we just occupy too much brain space with things that we don’t have control over. Well, I’m here to tell you to stop. Give it to God & leave it with Him, just leave it there, walk away from it, let it go. Start to focus on the things that bring you fulfillment, spend your time with people who bring joy to your life & encourage you, & rest, rest in the fact that God is ultimately the one in control of your life & has things in store for you that will blow your socks off. I really believe God wants what’s best for you, it doesn’t mean that life will always be perfect & things won’t be hard, but if our perspective is on the right things & we rest in Him, it’ll make things a whole lot easier. I really want to encourage you to take the things that have been holding you, hostage, & give them to God, you’ll feel like a brand new person. It doesn’t mean that anything has necessarily changed or gotten easier, but when you decide to let go & let God, your whole view on life really does change.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Thanks so much for this reminder, Alicia. We need to be intentional about choosing rest. And, “Let go and let God” is still great advice!
