He Wants You

A few years ago I was reaching out to one of my girl friends. She had been coming out to church pretty regularly & had made the decision to re-commit her life to Christ. She had some pretty big life changes impact her & after about a year we were having a discussion about why she had stopped coming to church. She told me that she loved me & she was thankful for all the support but that she felt like she would come back to church once she had her life together. She felt like her life was to much of a mess for church & ultimately Jesus. This really, really hurt my heart. To this day it makes me tear up when I think about it. I want to say that I am not perfect, I don’t have everything together, & I need Jesus as much as the next person. If I could say anything to anyone out there who feels too far gone for Jesus, or church I’d like to say this. He loves you & He wants you. No matter what state you’re in He will never stop pursuing a relationship with you.  We always see in the Bible a picture of God’s love for His church painted as the relationship between a bride & bridegroom. The bridegroom is always pursuing his bride & that won’t stop after they get married. The bride is not always going to be perfect, she’ll have bad hair days, she’ll get emotional, she’ll even get mad at the bridegroom but that’s not going to stop his love for her. It’s the same way with God. God’s love for us is unconditional even if you haven’t made the decision to come into relationship with Him yet He still loves you & is waiting & constantly pursuing you.

So whoever may read this no matter where you’re at God wants you. You are not too far gone, you have not made too many mistakes, your life is not too messy for Him. He wants to be in a relationship with you & help you to become the best you, you can be. Don’t be afraid to accept the invitation.

Later, Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests also ate with them. But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with such scum?5:30 Greek with tax collectors and sinners?
Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. 32I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”
Luke 5:29-32

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:8

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

  1. Mmm! Yes, God’s faithfulness despite our lack of faithfulness has been such a theme for me lately. Sometimes we can get so far from the truth of the gospel in our daily lives. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  2. Such a beautiful post. Your heart is so evident here. I believe it’s when we are most messed up that we need to run to the waiting arms of our loving Lord instead of hiding thinking we need to get cleaned up first. There is nothing we can ever do to make us good enough before coming to Him.
I enjoyed your post today. Bless you.
