What He’s Called you To

Earlier this week I saw this quote by Kalley Heiligenthal it says,

“You can’t do it all, but you can do everything He’s called you to.”

This really spoke to me. I remember when I was in high school I wished I could draw & paint like a lot of my friends. I tried & tried & no matter what, my artwork never turned out like theirs. Here’s the thing,  I could sing & that was something they couldn’t do. My gifting was in something different.

It’s very easy as women to want to do it all & do it all well. The question is though what has God called you to? What are the gifts that He’s given you? What’s the thing that you’re so passionate about it keeps you up at night? That’s what you need to go after. It’s SO easy to get caught up in the comparison game. My friend can do this, but I can’t or I wish I was more like this person. You are who you are because God made you that way & He doesn’t make mistakes. You were put on this earth for a reason & He needs you to help accomplish His plan. Instead of running after so many different things or trying to fit somewhere you don’t take some time to pray & figure out what it is God has called you to. Once you know run after it, that’s where you’ll find your fulfillment. We’re not supposed to do everything, we weren’t made to do that. We all have a purpose & we were made to fulfill that purpose. I want to encourage you to spend time on that the thing that God has gifted you with. Spend time fanning the flame that’s inside you. Even if it’s for a short time once a week you’ll feel amazing because you’re doing what God has made you to do.

You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.

Deuteronomy 14:2

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Psalm 139:13-14
