I’ve talked about rest before on my blog, more in the context of taking a day for yourself to rest. Today I’m talking about a different kind of rest. I’m talking about more of a spiritual rest. God’s been challenging me since last Fall to really just rest in Him. Rest in knowing He’s got a plan, rest in the fact that He’s sovereign in the rough seasons, rest in the fact that He’s leading me where He wants me. I’m definitely not perfect in this area. I’m flawed, I get emotional, I spend nights crying asking God what He’s doing and why He’s doing it in a certain way & over & over again I hear Him ask do you trust me? On a side note something I love about God is the fact that He’s patient with us & He’ll meet us where we’re at. I know it can be difficult to see through the mess when we’re in tough seasons, but I’m here to tell you God’s arms are strong enough to carry us through them. He’s got everything under control & when the seasons over we’ll be able to look back & say it was for the best that we went through it. God has a place for each & every one of us. It can be hard to see at times, but I promise you He has a plan & He’s faithful. Something I’ve learned over time is it’s really encouraging to pull up past situations where God has been faithful to you. You’ll begin to take your eyes off of the situation you’re in & be able to put your focus on God, the One who’s forever faithful. About a week or so ago I was struggling & got brought me back to a message I had written/presented for school & it was funny because I felt like it was more applicable to my life now then when I wrote it. I’ll post it below if you’re interested.
I hope this post encourages you that no matter the season you’re in if you choose to rest in God & know that He’s got everything under control you’ll be able to dance in the rain. You’ll be able to enjoy the rough season.
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
