Earlier this year I felt God challenge me to be more transparent on the internet and in life. One of the things that has come with that is not getting caught up in public opinion. It’s really easy to get caught up in what people may or may not think of you. I remember in January I wanted to blog more, but refrained because I didn’t want to deal with others opinions. Here’s what I’ve learned recently, everyone has an opinion and I can have a different one and I don’t have to defend my opinion all the time, I don’t have to prove myself to anyone. Sure, living transparently may bring along people to judge what I’m doing/saying, but honestly, they’re not me & they’re not living my life. I’m ultimately held accountable for my actions & I have to live the way I feel God is asking me to, some may disagree with what I do, but oh, well God’s opinion of me is more important than anybody else’s. What’s most important here is being obedient to what God has asked of me to do with my life. So what does transparency look like? For me it’s being open about my relationship with God, sharing His wisdom with others, being able to show that as a Christian I don’t have everything together, being myself & sharing God’s love the best way I know how, regardless of what other people are doing around me.
What I’d like to challenge you to do is to live as transparent as you can. Don’t worry about what other people think. It’s okay to be different, it’s okay to have your own opinion, it’s okay if your walk with God doesn’t look like everyone else’s. It’s not supposed to. Don’t doubt who God has made you to be, & don’t doubt what He’s spoken to you, whether people judge you for it, or not.
